Trump’s War Betrayal: A Catastrophic Choice 6/23/2025

Trump’s War Betrayal: A Catastrophic Choice

Donald Trump once promised to end America’s entanglements in endless wars. Instead, he has launched an unauthorized, reckless military strike on Iran—escalating conflict and betraying the very voters who elected him to avoid foreign quagmires.
This unprovoked attack, supported by Vice President J.D. Vance and other hawks, was cynically timed to deflect attention from Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s crimes: the slaughter and starvation of tens of thousands of Palestinians. Trump called the strike a “spectacular military success,” claiming Iran’s nuclear program was “obliterated.” But this hubris recalls George W. Bush’s disastrous “Mission Accomplished” moment, which led to decades of chaos, Iraqi deaths, and the rise of ISIS.
History warns us. In 1953, the CIA and British intelligence overthrew Iran’s elected government, installing a brutal monarchy and sowing the seeds of today’s theocracy. And in 1948, Zionist militias forcibly expelled more than 700,000 Palestinians from their homes—the Nakba—creating a permanent refugee crisis that endures to this day. Now, U.S.-backed Israeli bombings and blockades have pushed Palestinians in Gaza to the brink of mass starvation—war crimes Trump ignores or enables.
This war was not inevitable. It was a choice—driven by politics, not security. The consequences will be long, bloody, and tragic.
Congress has utterly failed. By abdicating its constitutional authority, it has allowed one man to plunge us into another catastrophic conflict. We are again on the wrong side of history.
