Pentagon spending - 9.1.2026

America’s Munitions Shortage should be a wake-up call, not an excuse to pour even more money into the Pentagon.

As WILLIAM HARTUNG argues, the deeper problem is our addiction to endless Wars, runaway Arms Spending and a Military-Industrial System that too often rewards Contractors rather than protecting Americans.

The United States has spent trillions on War and Weapons, yet our Stockpiles are being depleted. Expensive Missiles are being used against relatively inexpensive Drones, while Military Contractors continue to profit. Meanwhile, urgent needs at home—Health Care, Infrastructure, Housing, Education and Environmental Protection—remain underfunded.

This is not simply a “Munitions Gap.” It is a Policy Failure.

We should stop treating every international Crisis as another reason to arm, bomb and escalate. Diplomacy—not an endless supply of Weapons—should be our first line of Defense.

Congress must demand Accountability from the Pentagon, curb wasteful Weapons Programs and end the cycle of Endless War.

America needs a Peace Dividend—not another trillion-dollar War Machine.
