22, November 2016 Rise of Nazism
The ascendancy of Donald Trump has unleashed
a frightening rise in racism, anti-Semitism and xenophobia. Trump stoked these sentiments
during his campaign to awaken the dark side of white Americans and then
unabashedly appointed Bannon to keep the embers of racism alive. Trump embraces
this ugly ideology because it is the source of his power. It explains why
racist attacks by law enforcement on people of color and mass incarceration have been tacitly
encouraged.
Trump’s diatribes against immigrants, Muslims
and support for ‘stop and frisk’ have been major taking points of his campaign.
Predictably, Trump launched a savage tweet in
response to the impassioned plea of the cast of the Broadway “Hamilton” to Vice
President-elect Pence to work on behalf of all Americans but then chose to
remain silent when a gang of White supremacists spewed their racist chants.
Trump is so thin-skinned that his itchy
twitter fingers will always respond to a real or imaginary affronts ensuring
Alex Baldwin at least more four years of employment regaling his fans with his
satirical impersonations of Trump. “Hamilton” has also benefited from all the
publicity.
His binary view of the world can be reduced
to two major groups, those that support him are “terrific” and those that
oppose him as “losers”. He will drag America into the wilderness if it means
feeding his insatiable appetite for adulation. He has no appetite for governing
only make ‘great deals” to enrich himself.
