Earlier this year much of the world press
gushed approvingly when Mohammed bin Salman, MBS, announced Saudi Arabia was
moving out of the Stone Age and allowing Saudi women to drive without the
presence of male companions. Saudi women have long suffered enormous oppression
in a nation that insists they dress “modestly” with suffocating head to toe
garments in the blistering desert heat. Men are excluded from this religious
edict. Gender equality does not exist in Islam.
Another of Saudi’s pastimes is to bury people
in the ground up their necks and have people throw rocks at their heads in a barbaric
attempt to terrify its 38 million people into total submission to the monarch’s
absolute rule. Public flogging and chopping off hands (of thieves) is added to
the mix to entertain the rulers of the Kingdom. Recently, Canada has lobbied
for the release of prisoners languishing in Saudi’s dungeons whose only crime
was to speak on out in support of human rights activists. Due process does not
exist and many of these enormously courageous activists have received savage public floggings. Autocrat Mohammed bin Salman, MBS has much
in common with wannabee autocrat President Trump. Both are thin skinned and
cannot tolerate criticism. While President Trump cozies up to the head chopping
Saudis (an average of 3 beheadings per week) he sought to pick a fight with
Iran unaware of the history of betrayal and collusion with the UK in the theft
of Iran’s oil.
