The widely publicized grand jury report in Pennsylvania on abused children has sent shock waves throughout the country and much of the world.

The real number of abused children could very well be in the thousands, since many records have been lost and many victims refused to come forward.

According to Pennsylvania Attorney General, Josh Shapiro, the history of abuse could only have been carried out without the criminal complicity of church officials in Pennsylvania and the Vatican.  

What makes these revelations even more egregious is that they are based on the dioceses’ own ‘Secret Archives,’ records.

Among the victims were vulnerable boys and girls, who were repeatedly subjected to sexual abuse. The perpetrators handed out large crosses as “rewards” to more compliant children who were then shunted around to other predator priests.

Bishops and other church officials not only covered up those crimes but they transferred accused priests to other churches and, in some cases, even promoted them.  

There is an urgent need to replicate this investigation to other states and the Catholic world at large. There is also an urgent need to lift the statute of limitations on rape and other sexual offenses to ensure that predator priests and their corrupt enablers are prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

The Vatican should lift the ban on ordination of women and eliminate the archaic, unnatural celibacy laws.

In the meantime children should NEVER be left alone with priests of any religion or religious demonization.
