Nobel Peace Prize - 10.11.2026

The 2026 Nobel Peace Prize must be a powerful call for justice, accountability and respect for international law. Navi Pillay, a distinguished South African jurist and human rights advocate, deserves recognition for her commitment to human rights and international justice.

As chair of a United Nations commission of inquiry on the occupied Palestinian territory, Pillay helped bring grave allegations concerning Gaza to the world's attention. The commission's conclusion that acts constituting genocide had been committed in Gaza demands serious international scrutiny, independent investigation and accountability. These findings must not be confused with a final criminal conviction of individual officials, but neither should their gravity be ignored.

The world cannot allow international law to become a privilege for the powerful and an empty promise for the oppressed. Palestinians deserve protection, humanitarian aid, freedom, dignity and justice. Governments supplying weapons or shielding those accused of grave violations must be pressed to uphold their legal and moral responsibilities.

The United Nations and the international community must ensure independent investigations, protect civilians, facilitate unrestricted humanitarian relief and hold those responsible for proven crimes accountable, regardless of nationality or political power.

Peace cannot flourish without justice. Navi Pillay's recognition should inspire the world to defend human rights consistently and ensure that no nation stands above international law.
