Israel is in a state of extreme moral decay
buoyed by President Trump’s decision to move the US embassy to Jerusalem. Even the term “occupied territories” is being
replaced by “Greater Israel” in official Israeli circles which demonstrates the
tragic reality for the beleaguered Palestinians.
With a “friend” in the White House, Israel
has thrown all caution and humanity to the winds and has intensified its
appalling treatment of the Palestinians slaughtering dozens and injuring scores
more at the border crossing with Gaza. Many have been blinded and others have
limbs amputated with Israel’s claim that “every bullet has met its intended
target.”
Mike Pompeo has given the green light to
Israel to continue its murderous assault stating that the United States is
“fully supportive” of Israelis’ “right to defend themselves.” Oh Really?
Don’t the Palestinians have the right to
life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness or must they live in a state of
permanent subjugation?
In a further example of Israel’s
high-mindedness, Professor Franke, of Columbia Law School who was leading a
delegation of American civil rights leaders, was interrogated on her recent
visit to Israel, accused of lying, expelled and told never to return. Her crime
– expressing outrage of Israel’s appalling human rights record.
With screams of “traitor” directed at
dissenters, stifling civil debate, Israel has taken a hard right turn closely
resembling apartheid South Africa.
