U.S. continues to defend Israel’s acts of terror
Once again, the Middle East was confronted with another act of mass terror in Lebanon, where at least 12 individuals were killed and over 2,800 injured due to the simultaneous explosion of electronic pagers used by members of Hezbollah. This incident has not only shocked the nation but has also raised significant concerns about the potential for a broader regional conflict.
It is widely believed that Israel was behind this attack, with reports suggesting that explosive materials were planted within pagers sold under the name of the Taiwanese brand Gold Apollo. Disturbingly, the actual production of these pagers was tied to a firm in Budapest. The Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, was among those injured, tragically losing an eye in the blast.Victims included innocent civilians, such as a 10-year-old girl whose father’s pager exploded. The gruesome aftermath saw citizens rushing to assist the injured, many of whom were struck down in public places like grocery stores. The sheer chaos of the event left many paralyzed in shock, struggling to comprehend the violence that erupted.
Hezbollah has condemned the attack as terrorism, calling for accountability. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that the U.S. had no prior knowledge or involvement in these incidents. Yet, the implications of such an operation—allegedly coordinated with Israeli defense officials—suggest a deeper and more troubling narrative.
This attack not only highlights the ongoing cycle of violence in the region but also underscores the urgent need for a comprehensive investigation. The laws of armed conflict are clear: indiscriminate attacks on civilians are unlawful and must be addressed. Without accountability, the cycle of violence will only perpetuate, leading to further suffering and instability.
The international community must respond to these violations with urgency and clarity. The lives lost, especially those of innocent children, remind us of the human cost of this conflict.
The United States cannot escape blame. It has defended Israel acts of terror under the false narrative “Israel has the right to defend itself.”
