This has nothing to do with legitimate defense. When children who have already lost limbs are denied wheelchairs and essential medical equipment, it becomes an appalling question of humanity and compassion.
Gaza now has the highest concentration of child amputees in the world, according to the United Nations. Thousands of children have suffered life-changing injuries, while medical and rehabilitation services have been devastated.
More than 900 wheelchairs donated for children in Gaza have reportedly been prevented from entering. A wheelchair is not a weapon. It cannot threaten Israel or harm anyone. It simply enables a wounded child to move.
Jewish scripture itself teaches a powerful moral principle: “A child shall not suffer for the iniquity of a parent.” It also teaches that each person is accountable for their own actions.
Have the lessons of the Holocaust been forgotten? Jewish children once suffered because innocent human beings were stripped of their humanity. No child, Jewish or Palestinian, should ever be targeted, dehumanized or treated as expendable.

There can be no moral defense for cruelty toward innocent children. Every child deserves life, dignity, medical care and the freedom to move.
