Justice Silenced in Palestine - 10.5.2025

Fareed Zakaria’s recent interview with the Palestinian Legal Advisor, Diana Buttu, offered a rare moment of clarity amid the fog of propaganda that dominates Western coverage of the Israel-Palestine conflict. The advisor laid out, calmly and factually, how Israel’s occupation and repeated assaults on Gaza and the West Bank constitute clear violations of international law—crimes that would draw global outrage if committed by any other state.

Yet Zakaria’s questioning, while measured, reflected the double standard that continues to define U.S. media: pressing Palestinians to justify their survival while rarely holding Israeli leaders to account for decades of systemic violence, land theft, and the collective punishment of millions.

If genuine peace is ever to emerge, American journalism must confront uncomfortable truths rather than echo official talking points. Justice and human rights cannot remain conditional on political convenience.
