The antiwar rally organized by the Iranian diaspora in New York City sends an important message: wars of aggression and illegal attacks on Iran must end. Military force only deepens human suffering and increases the risk of a wider regional conflict.
The 1953 coup, orchestrated by the CIA and MI6, overthrew Iran's democratically elected government after it moved to nationalize its oil industry. That intervention profoundly shaped modern Iranian history and continues to influence relations between Iran and the West.
