Israel’s alleged war criminal, Benjamin Netanyahu, has once again arrived in the United States despite an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court. His visit raises serious questions about the United States' commitment to international law and equal justice.
If nations expect others to respect the rule of law, they should also uphold international legal institutions when they involve close allies. Many civilians have been killed or displaced during the war in Gaza, and allegations of war crimes deserve impartial legal scrutiny.
Accountability under the law should apply to all. Justice loses credibility when it appears to be selective. Respect for international law requires that no leader be above legal accountability.
