Former U.S. Ambassador to Japan, Rahm Emanuel, issues dire warning - 7.9.2026

Former U.S. Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel has delivered a warning that Americans should not ignore. He argues that under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel has become a "territorial pariah," isolated by policies that have damaged its international standing and undermined prospects for lasting peace.

Emanuel contends that the United States should end unconditional defense subsidies and treat Israel as it does other allies by making assistance subject to accountability and responsible conduct. He also calls for a credible post-war plan for Gaza and renewed efforts toward a negotiated peace that guarantees security, dignity, and justice for both Israelis and Palestinians.

True friendship requires honesty, not a blank check. Supporting Israel's long-term security should never mean excusing policies that deepen conflict or violate international law. The United States should encourage accountability, diplomacy, and respect for human rights rather than unconditional military support. Lasting peace will come through justice, negotiation, and equal respect for the lives and rights of all people.
