BILL MAHER's Recent Comments About Gaza Present A Seriously Incomplete Picture Of History. Palestinian Suffering Did Not Begin On October 7, 2023. It Goes Back To 1948, When Hundreds Of Thousands Of Palestinians Were Displaced During The War Surrounding Israel's Creation.
The Deir Yassin Massacre Is Part Of That History. Armed Jewish Organizations, Including The IRGUN And STERN GROUP, Were Involved In The Attack That Killed Palestinian Civilians.
We Must Also Remember What Is Happening Today. Humanitarian Boats Loaded With Food And Other Aid Have Attempted To Reach Starving Palestinians In Gaza. Israeli Forces Have Intercepted Such Boats In International Waters; During One 2026 Operation, Video Showed Israeli Soldiers Opening Fire On At Least Two Vessels. More Than 400 Activists Were Subsequently Detain)
These Are Facts That Cannot Simply Be Erased From The Story.
HAMAS's Killing Of Israeli Civilians And Taking Of Hostages Must Be Condemned. But Those Crimes Cannot Erase Palestinian History, Nor Can They Justify Ignoring Civilian Suffering.
History Did Not Begin On October 7.
Truth Requires Remembering 1948, The Nakba, Decades Of Displacement, And Today's Humanitarian Catastrophe.
