Israeli settlers’ siege of Palestinian homes in Qusra, an occupied west bank village, is another grim reminder that Palestinians live under a system of intimidation and dispossession.
the international community must not treat settler violence as an isolated local dispute. when armed settlers besiege families in their homes, the Israeli government has a responsibility to protect Palestinian civilians and uphold international law.
the united states and other governments that provide political, military and economic support to Israel must demand an immediate end to settler attacks, hold perpetrators accountable and protect Palestinian communities from further violence.
silence and impunity only encourage more abuses. the people of Qusra deserve the same basic rights, security and protection that any community would expect. international law must apply to everyone including Palestinians in the West Bank.
